Creating a shared vision

Strategy
The scale and complexity of the challenges faced by the Gulf of California requires not only a combination of efforts but also the construction of a shared vision and collaborative work agendas in order to achieve effective conservation and sustainable development. Even though the environmental sector in the region is already participating in various networks and collaborative projects, most of the efforts are local and developed within the environmental sector. The need and timing is therefore ripe to strengthen and enhance this dynamic and to include other sectors and key players of the region.

Expected Results
In order to generate a participative, open, and fair process that brings together different sectors and key players, the aim is to establish a dialogue and exchange-of-experiences platform that will make it possible to propose a shared long-term vision for the region (2030) and to which joint actions are linked. In addition, another aim is to develop and implement a communication strategy for the players who participate in the platform that will streamline and provide feedback on the implementation of the actions related to fulfilling the shared vision.

  • Consult and build consensus with other key players from the conservation field (NGOs, private foundations, academia), followed by the creation of a platform for exchange and coordination
  • Convene roundtables to coordinate actions with key players from the private sector and other government sectors
